Account & subscriptions — bRRAIn Docs

How accounts, plans, billing, and metered usage work across bRRAIn.

Account & subscriptions

bRRAIn separates personal accounts from organization subscriptions. You can have a free personal account and belong to a paid organization. You can have a paid personal subscription for individual features (a Vanity URL, a certification, an Exchange seller seat) without owning any organization.

This page explains how accounts, plans, and billing fit together.

Personal vs organization billing

| Billing scope | Pays for | Examples | |---|---|---| | Personal | Features tied to your individual identity. | Premium ID Registry features, bRRAInSkills certifications, Exchange submitter seat, partner program enrollment. | | Organization | Features tied to the team or business. | Per-seat licensing, brain pod compute, marketplace extension subscriptions, Exchange purchases, OEM volume tiers. |

A personal account is always free. You only pay personally if you opt into a paid personal feature.

An organization can be free (limited features, capped storage) or paid. Paid organization plans bill the organization owner.

Plan tiers (organization)

We offer four organization plan tiers plus a custom Enterprise tier:

| Tier | Best for | Highlights | |---|---|---| | Free | Individuals, evaluators, small teams trying bRRAIn out. | Up to 3 members, 5 GB Vault, hosted region only, community support. | | Team | Small to mid-sized teams in production. | Up to 25 members, 100 GB Vault, choice of region, marketplace access, business-hours support. | | Business | Growing organizations with multiple workspaces. | Up to 250 members, 1 TB Vault, all regions, integrations included, 24×5 support, SSO. | | Enterprise | Compliance-bound or large organizations. | Unlimited members, custom Vault, sovereign-cloud regions, full compliance pack, 24×7 support, dedicated CSM. | | Sovereign-Cloud | Customers requiring absolute data sovereignty. | Self-hosted or single-tenant deployment in your country, hardware-attested, air-gap option. |

What's metered

Beyond the seat counts, bRRAIn meters a few resources to keep pricing fair across very different usage patterns:

  • Storage — actual bytes stored in your Vault and Document Portal. Reads are not metered.
  • Compute hours — your brain pod's GPU runtime. Idle time is not billed; only active inference and embedding work counts.
  • Marketplace extension calls — some extensions meter their own usage (per-orchestration-run, per-document-processed, per-API-call).
  • Outbound bandwidth on heavy egress — only charged on Sovereign-Cloud above a generous monthly quota.

Metered usage shows up in the Console under Billing → Usage with daily granularity. You can set spend caps; we'll alert before you hit them.

Trials

New paid-tier sign-ups get a 30-day free trial with full feature access. No credit card required to start. We email you 7 days, 3 days, and 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel any time during the trial — no charge.

If you don't convert, your data isn't deleted. You drop to the Free tier, with members and storage capped at the free limits. You can upgrade later and pick up where you left off.

Upgrading and downgrading

Plan changes apply immediately:

  • Upgrades are pro-rated. You're charged the difference for the remaining billing period.
  • Downgrades take effect at the next renewal. We don't refund the unused portion of an upgrade.
  • Downgrades that would put you over a feature cap (more members than the lower tier allows, more storage than the lower tier provides) require you to first reduce usage. We notify you and give 30 days to comply.

Annual plans get a discount versus monthly. You can switch monthly↔annual at any time; switching to annual immediately charges the prorated annual difference.

Payment methods

We accept:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB).
  • ACH direct debit (US business accounts).
  • SEPA direct debit (EU SEPA-zone business accounts).
  • Wire transfer (Enterprise tier and above; manual invoice).

Cards and bank methods are processed by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.

Invoices and receipts

Every charge generates an invoice emailed to your billing email and downloadable from Console → Billing → Invoices. Invoices include your tax-identifiable address; you can edit your billing profile (legal name, tax ID, billing email, country) at any time.

VAT, GST, and sales tax are calculated automatically based on your billing country.

Failed payments

If a card declines:

  1. We retry over the next 5 business days.
  2. We email the billing contact at each retry.
  3. After 7 days of failure we suspend the organization. Your data stays intact; only access is paused.
  4. After 30 days of suspension we begin the deletion countdown described in Organizations.

You can update payment details and reinstate access at any point during suspension.

Refunds

We don't offer routine refunds for partial-period usage. We do refund:

  • Charges made in error (duplicate billing, wrong tier).
  • Service failures attributable to us beyond our published SLA, on Business and Enterprise tiers.

Email billing@brrain.io with the invoice number to start a refund request.

Personal subscriptions

Some personal-scope items have their own price:

  • bRRAInUserID Pro — vanity URL + custom one-page site + verification chip styling. Annual subscription.
  • bRRAInSkills certification — per-cert exam fee, one-time. Includes lifetime certificate hosting.
  • Exchange submitter seat — recurring subscription if you want to list paid items in the Exchange.
  • Partner program — recurring subscription for active partner status (waived for high-revenue partners).

These bill against your personal credit card and don't affect any organization you belong to.
